Racist Bollocks!

ref: http://takimag.com/article/the_talk_nonblack_version_john_derbyshire#axzz1rN8P5SOO

This is the biggest pile of poo I have ever had the misfortune to read. It takes the manipulative route of all dictators by presenting twisted statistical half-truths as fact.

Sadly, this garbage could only ever be accepted as fact by people with racist inclinations who have had limited experience of black people.

I came to realise a short while ago that most prejudice is based on PERCEIVED knowledge (as opposed to actual real EXPERIENCED knowledge...)

For this reason, most people take as their starting point of 'knowledge' what they hear their family, colleagues, friends say about certain groups of people. They build up prejudices based on the stories they see presented in films, TV shows, plays, books, newspapers, media etc (all of which are ultimately fictional).

The reason for this is the way the human brain takes in and assimilates information; our subconscious perceives what we see in a film for example as 'something we have experienced' even though its a fabricated and fictional account of 'reality' - NOT reality...

This skews our world-view - ESPECIALLY if our REAL world-view (ie that which we have ACTUALLY experienced) is severely limited in scope.

It is very easy for opportunistic people to use this understanding to manipulate those who are less experienced, less educated and full of fear. (Politicians and Church Leaders being prime examples of this.)

That is why its fundamentally important that everything we see or experience (our news coverage, our books, plays, films and our media) should have even and balanced coverage of the people and stories told within them.

It is no longer acceptable to label certain groups or individuals as less or more than...It is no longer acceptable to believe that certain groups are inferior or superior to others...It is no longer acceptable to believe that we can tell the moral or intellectual worth of an individual merely by their skin colour or where they live.

These things are unacceptable simply because they make no sense - no sense outside of a limited and fearful view of the world.

Articles like this one only stoke the fires of prejudice and ignorance by pouring on the fuel of mis-information...

Online Chat/Message Board Playground Negativity Bollocks

It is my experience that for whatever reason message board/chat rooms generate a certain level of playground bullying 'them-and-us' kind of negative nonsense.

I have long known that it isn’t Reason or quality of argument which makes people see the light – that this is simply down to their personal consciousness. And you can’t enlighten another person – you can only inspire them to want to become enlightened ("You can take a mouse to water but you cannot make him think” perhaps?

Its an interesting thought though as to why it is that the internet is so overwhelmingly filled with negativity and limited consciousness, narrow thinking and small mindedness.

Given the global nature of the net you'd be forgiven for thinking this wouldn't be the case. But we often forget that for most of us, most of our internet interaction is based on connections with other people who are occupying the same geographic, emotional, social and educational spaces that we are.

The web is literally just that – a web of many many people all focussing in the same direction.

Given the immense amount of time we all tend to spend online these days its not surprising that we all eventually succumb to a certain amount of net fatigue.

I believe that its this net fatigue which amplifies the negativity which we experience. It does this simply by gradually wearing down our own natural positivity and replacing it with negativity which we then also pass onto the next person we come across who ‘gets on our last nerve’.

My experience as a teacher has taught me that I need to be energised and centred in order to be able to perform properly. Teaching a group of adults of kids when I’m tired is simply a recipe for disaster. The same is true for us all in terms of our internet interactions.

Maybe the answer is ‘little and often’ lol

God Bless x

Living Wage

I read a book once (the title escapes me) which offered up the idea that every single person could be given a payment by the state by way of ‘Living Wage’. This would be a regular payment given without any need of ‘qualification’ aside from being alive. In a sense it would be in lieu of the freedom to adopt land because of our capitalist history, This ‘Living Wage’ would be enough to cover human need, ie food, shelter, clothing etc etc. and would be a person’s basic income in addition to any earnings they wished to pursue themselves on top. This of course would iron out the problem of means tested benefits – thereby freeing up enormous state resources both human and financial (as well as criminal justice & law enforcement resources). It would mean that every single person would have enough to cover their fundamental needs – thereby effectively blocking up the very real need that some people have to turn to criminal activity just to feed and clothes themselves and their families. Taking away the stress that many people currently feel/fear due to large financial shortfalls would also (in all likelihood) also alleviate the need for much (costly) medical intervention in their lives – also freeing up the State’s financial resources. There is much evidence to support the idea that an equal society is a happier, healthier and more prosperous one.

New Nu-Future Album

Well the Nu-Future album, Mantra, looks like being a success already. We've been selling them by the bag load. I thought we would have had to have made a huge effort and called everyone we know and then have to start looking outside of that circle. The odd thing is that, in fact, the circle seems to have its own mind and seems to be taking care of itself. More of a web than a circle perhaps.......... I've not really pulled my finger out on sales yet and yet Ive had a steady trickle of 3-10 new CD sales every week. If you add up all the CDs that all the band are selling that means we hitting around 15-30 a week which is really encouraging. Still some way to go to hit the targets we set ourselves to cover the cost of manufacture and production costs but generally it's all gravy. I devised this 'cottage industry' method of CD selling in order to get past the bullshit thats happening in the indstry at this point in time. The biggest challenge is that there are still younger people than me who dont see it. The other guys in the band are touch and go about whether to believe that the industry can save them or that it will drag them down with its sinking ship. The idea was to go totally punk - record at home (or least under our control) - set up our own label and then sell to all the places we are 'not supposed to'. ie. friends, family, people we know. All the places that 'credibilty' demands that we are to avoid in favour of the agreed routes. The trouble is, the very people who are 'demanding' this (and in fairness 'demand' is too strong a word) are the very people who benefit from that distribution network. Try telling that to people who are ten years younger than me and they act like Im out of the loop - why? because they are still investing their interest in the myth being the truth - cause they want to be 'saved' by the big advance and the big limo and the hair stylists! all crap (and also, more importantly, all crap that the artist actually pays for - and through the nose for! literally in many cases!) A&R? Arse and Elbow - cause they dont know one from the other! Why do we expect that some A&R man (and theres very few women allowed!) whos very career is based on the system created by the industry, should have any idea how to do it themselves. Especially when their nice house and their nice car and their nice home studio is being paid for by keeping in the employ of the industry. The Matrix has nothing on this baby! In fact blandness seems to be the calling of our time- we are all called to be bland and toe the party line - politically, morally, socially, recreationally, fashionally ( I made it up!) and mentally. Never has the Western (so called 'first world' hah!) been so bland........ Our young people are like robots, doped on skunk, high on pills and pacified by alcohol. The irony is that they (and the attendent High Priests of Cool - those too old to be considered young and therefore - once again - in fear of their very seat) have bought into (and thereby CREATED) a world where it is considered rebellian to wear designer labels, prance about in designer trainers, play designer games and listen to designer music. All look and no substance. The question is: how is it that large multi national conglomerates have so effectively created a feeling of rebellian from conformity? And how is it that those who know better have been scared into remaining silent? Collusion is always the greater part of oppression.
